travel website – Tripit

scr-tripit-1I started using TripIt to organize my trips. This website has a few nice features, among them nice graphic organization in a chronological order of flights, transportation, lodging, maps, directions, etc.

However, the greatest strength is the easy import of reservations. Using a simple e-mail forward, you can import flight details (from e-tickets), hostel bookings (from e-mail confirmations) or car reservations.

The website also tries to add content of it’s own: local weather, local maps, directions from airport to hotel amongst others. However, these are not always available.

Another strong feature is the special iPhone application – TripIt. Not only does it show the trip breakdown, it also allows browsing in offline mode (meaning it downloads all content). This can prove useful if one forgets to print booking information or specific addresses or phones.

scr-tripit-2Next in the list, TripIt has a nice social side to it. What website today doesn’t strive to integrate with Facebook, Twitter and whatnot? Anyway, TripIt integrates pretty well with LinkedIn – although I am not that sure this will prove useful in any way.

last but definitely not the least all the trips can be exported as calendar information. From iCal to Outlook and Google Calendar. I use Google Calendar and this feature will probably prove very useful, at least tieing-in with Google SMS alerts.

So if you were in search of an easy to use (most of the time) website where you can upload travel plans, TripIt might be the key.
