This post could be about the huge crowds in Shanghai, or it could be about a beautiful evening spent in a exclusive restaurant on the Bund. It could even be about the nice art gallery at 3 on the Bund. Of course, in a chronoligical correct order it could be about the snaking qeue at Shanghai museum and how I skipped the visit. Or, of course, to have some fun, I could tell you how I got lost in a mall trying to find the subway. Or it can be about sushi and teaching English in China, or how I met two lovely Americans.
However, all that is for another day.
Today it is about …bubble tea.
Some of you might grumble, some might say I’m wasting precious RSS space, Cristi probably will be proud. For thanks to him I encountered the bubble-ish pleasures of the bubble tea. That was last September in New York.
Fast forward a few months, and here I am munching on unknown-animal-on-a-stick and wandering the streets around Rinmi Sq. And lo and behold – a tea selling little shop. It may not seem too much, but strangely enough I did not see that many places selling tea – or places I could identify as selling tea. And so I ordered some – the brown variety. I of course could only point to which one I would like. And great surprise besides the obvious tea in my plastic glass landed some bubbles. I did have a suspicion when I saw the thick straws, but I could only hope.
And so the evening found me drnking hot black tea with milk (I think, not very sure) and bubbles.Ah, it was delicious. While the bubbles were as bubbly as in New York, the tea was SO MUCH better. Of course, only one tea could not satisfy my cravings, so in the end I arrived at the hostel with one liter of tea happily sloshing in my stomach. Ah the pleasures of bubble tea. Oh, and it cost 5 rmb per glass. Almost, but not quite, 1 usd. I am only sad that it took me 2 days to discover this place, however I think I will become their greatest client.
I do appologize for the spelling errors this evening – I have to write with one hand, as I’m trying to post on the blog and stuff sushi in my mouth at the same time.
The story about May 1st – oh whast a day – will come tomorrow.
