invitatie – festivalul culturii Thailandeze (RO)
In cadrul “zilele Bucurestiului 2010″ intre 18-22 septembrie se organizeaza “festivalul culturii Thailandeze”.

Feedburner mistakes and some good news
When I moved the blog RSS feed from the standard WordPress solution to Feedburner I managed to create some problems. One of the old feed URL’s not only was not redirected to Feedburner, but it was redirecting to a very old blog post about a Santana concert. I only discovered this by looking at a spike in traffic to that page, which did not make much sense.
Fortunately I was able to resolve this issue, and now all the feeds should behave a little better. So a big ‘Thank You’ for people who subscribed to the RSS feed, and apologies for those who received a stupid redirect instead of an actual feed. Thanks for staying with this blog, and I hope you find useful information or attractive photography here.
In other news: I finally managed to restore most of my lost photos from backup, and in the end I just lost some adjustments done in Lightroom. As I also have the exported files, this is not the catastrophe I first imagined. Unpleasant, annoying, but nothing was irremediably lost. Moreover from now on I can start to have a more organized work flow.
What this also means is that again I can start processing photos – soon to come : photos from Bruges and Luxembourg.
In the meantime – I wish everyone a great weekend!
for all the foodies out there
If you struggle with a lack of inspiration what too cook for some guests, or just want to enjoy a nice meal, I recommend a new blog. It’s called bibliophagus pelosus – bookworm with an appetite .
While I haven’t tasted the result of the recipes, even the descriptions are mouth-watering. And for people that are cooking-challenged like me, there is also information regarding interesting books.
So, pay bobes.org a visit and enjoy some easy to do recipes!
a new look
For some time I planned a move from my old theme and styles to a new look. Well, finally I managed to refresh the the face of the blog.
The main things I wanted to change were:
- move to a flexible width 2-column layout, in order to insert large photos
- try a new color palette – black is out-dated
- and of course, in one year I got bored with the same look
Hopefully, more interesting changes will follow. Oh, and the picture above has nothing to do with the post. It’s just eye-candy.
the love of flying
A photo challenge on Dpreview about flying (more precisely about planes – photos taken in the interior of planes).
From cockpits of WW2 bombers, to business class areas on modern flights to small plane interiors there is a lot of great imagery.
There are a lot of great sets of pictures on Dpreview’s challenge section, so enjoy browsing around.

yes, that’s me. or boiled lobster.
fiesta in Ciudad de Mexico
Sometimes people look at me somewhat strange when I tell them I have no particular plan when I start traveling. I have a general idea what I want to see, and at one point (morning coffee) I read the guide and make a draft.
And unfortunately this means that a lot of times I do not make an optimized circuit in the city. I might arrive in the same place 2 or 3 times in the same day – and even more if I stay a whole week for example. On the other hand this means that if I do not feel particularly keen on visiting a certain area, I don’t. And it also means that every new place I see I find very interesting and enchanting – after all I had no expectations and sometimes it wasn’t even on the plan.
happy birthday…to me and my blog

Well, doing a bit of cleaning around the blog I discovered that I started writing and posting photos exactly last year. First post – a ‘hello world’ kind of message – was posted on Jan 31, 2009. So, with a delay of 4 days – happy birthday to my blog!
I wonder what the second year will bring – more photos for sure – but what else? Last time I traveled I found that it is pretty hard to blog ‘on the road‘ so probably travel posts will come once I return home. A lot of people asked me how much a specific trip did cost (there is a general idea that traveling is extremely expensive) or how I organize things (when I …err….organize). Maybe this kind of information would be helpful / interesting.
I am also playing with a few idea in my head regarding the ‘why’ and ‘how’ I travel – so maybe some posts on these themes. It’s going to be an interesting year…I think.
Any comment with suggestions on themes will be appreciated. Not necessarily put in practice of course.
beginning of spring ?
After a long period of freezing under the snow and quietly longing for the weather in Asia, it seems we are nearing spring. Finally.
And so I start again to fret about new destinations, new travels, new adventures… Maybe I will not leave very soon (or who knows?) however I started again to look over guidebooks and most importantly over pictures I took last year.
And so – expect to see a new set of pictures coming soon!
