bookings for March

Finally I finished doing the reservations for the trip in March…

4 flights, 2 air carriers, 3 hostels – so I finished the bulk of preparations. I am still undecided on the day-trips around Madrid and Lisbon, but at least the general plan is put into place.

So, I’ll fly to Madrid on March 14th and I’ll return on the 29th. Between 18th and  24th I will be in and around Lisbon.

I had surprisingly many difficulties with pricey flight tickets from Romania, and also with a certain lack of beds in the hostels that I really wanted. But all finished well, so now I can relax a bit and plan some details.

My inspiration is the Rough Guide to Spain and Lonely Planet Portugal (when a certain someone will lend it to me ;) ), and I deffinitelly don’t lack possible destinations. Toledo, El Escorial, Aranjuez in Spain and Sintra, Porto, Obiedos in Portugal are main attractions, and I hope I’ll visit at least some of these places.

Next step is to fix my broken Canon lens and….I’m ready to go :)

bad surprise…

After an extremely nice weekend – all sunny and warm – this morning a chilly surprise awaited me. As I started the walk to work, no sun greeted me – but snow. Yes, it’s snowing in Bucharest!
I mean after days with temperatures well over 15 C, today it’s cold and everything is a a nice shade of gray.

This only means that I will start to think, so much harder, at holidays!

And now I’ll stop rambling and try to get some work done.

Live From Buena Vista – The Havana Lounge

Live From Buena Vista: The Havana Lounge

Live From Buena Vista: The Havana Lounge @ Sala Palatului, Bucharest, Feb 7

Went Saturday night with friends to a beautiful concert of Cuban music. Despite my coughing and sneezing I felt very good – so good in fact that after the concert I was really considering going to Salsa club…

All the famous songs were of course present – Guantanamera, Chan Chan, and others which I did not remember :)
My only complaint is the location – which might be ok for a classical concert….but not for latin music.
It was extremely awkward to dance, and the singers where not making things easier as the continuously pushed us to stand up and dance to the music.
I’m curious how a concert like this would be at a more suitable location.

All in all – a very nice evening.

Finally my new kitchen furniture arrived. After changing two manufacturers who simply were horrible, I am pretty satisfied.
I also had the new sink and oven installed!

So now I can start cooking delicious….somethings!
No idea what, but I feel all the money spent deserve some special meal!

I am though open to ideas. And it shouldn’t be too complex. Something like an…omelet.
I might feel adventurous and try a roast chicken!

First step I presume would be to buy a damn recipe book….

sweet Mondays

Who said Mondays are not nice? Especially when you get almost sick from so many delicious, amazing, mouth-watering cakes.
In the photo below I captured some of the last ones…
